What was once lush, is now a barren wasteland. When do we stop consuming and look for renewable resources? This is part of a series collection called ‘Perceptions’ where reality is skewed based on how you feel and interpret its meaning in the moment.
Colorado has a saying “leave no trace”. I think this leads to understanding how we should be responsible. Thus, I felt leaving a footprint in the painting has this symbolic saying imprinted within the painting.

Leveraging my oil and poured acrylic technique, I am revisiting some southwest images. Between Arizona & Utah, lies Coyote Buttes of the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs – These rock formations are breath taking. This is a picture taken in AZ and highlights worldwide geologic interest and beauty. This is part of a collection that celebrates the tranquility of the west, and the vibrant life of Colorado.

Expanding on recent Architecture theme, decided on the DAM after visiting earlier this year for the Claude Monet exposition. I don’t know what I enjoyed more, the building or the paintings. The building reminds me of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao Spain.
A Unique Original Mixed Media Painting. Painting is on furniture grade MDF board, and is really heavy.

“Whiskey is good times liquefied.”
A warm Colorado evening comes alive the moment this bottle catches the light. Monica Márquez Gatica blends acrylic pouring and oil detail to honor Elkins Single Barrel Bourbon Whisky in a vivid, dynamic portrait. The whiskey, bottle, and flask glow with movement, while the background settles into soft, oil-painted clarity. Inspired by a moment in Estes Park, this piece celebrates discovery, craft, and the joy of savoring a well-made spirit after a long day. Ideal for collectors who appreciate Colorado distilling and the beauty of shared, unhurried evenings.

The Andalusian horse and Flamenco are staples of my town Jerez. The PRE Horse is stunning, with a long broad neck, thick mane, long tail with a massive chest. The dancing horse is combined with music being at the epicenter and cradle of flamenco. The setting is back dropped by the Cloisters of Santo Domingo – which is square Gothic two-storied central courtyard cloister. The stonework is stunning, ribbed vault details with contrasting light and textures will leave a lasting impression. This painting is part of a series called “Mediterranean” – There is something mesmerizing and magical about the Mediterranean sites in Spain. Even my small town

A relaxing evening view of a lighthouse. This series reflects lighthouses enhanced through the use of acrylic pouring technique and detailed out with oil paints. My consistent theme in all my paintings remains true; to use colors to symbolize a variety of emotions, and truths, to bring about calmness that inspires tranquility.
A Unique Embellished Pouring Painting.

“Fire Stallion” original painting is a stunning tribute to the beauty and radiance of the sun. The use of acrylic pouring to craft the hair creates a sense of movement and energy, as if the strands are rays of sunlight. The mouth and eyes, ears, and other details are depicted in traditional oils, adding depth and texture to the scene. The overall result is a piece that captures the essence of the sun and its vital role in our lives. Whether you’re drawn to the bold use of color or the intricate details of the painting, this piece is sure to captivate and inspire.

During COVID, thinking of good times of days past in Denver. I remember a few years back I went on my first balloon ride for my birthday. It was so peaceful. This painting is ads to the Colorado & the West collection, as the balloon, and company are local. I can’t wait until all this mess is over with, and weather is warmer, to get out and up again.
The two balloons are done with acrylic pouring, and the rest of the painting and details are done in traditional oils. Thanks @Aero-Cruise Balloon Adventures for the inspiration!!!

Fine Art Original Oil Painting of a classic car, a forgotten relic that is unrestored by Monica Marquez Gatica (MMG Art Studio) a Colorado Oil Painter. This is a part of a series called “Forgotten Classic Cars” and depicts an iconic vintage Chevy model car. Although antique, it’s an abandoned and rusty that has seen better days. Seeing it abandoned seems sad and beautiful at the same time. Beautiful in reflection is the harmonious relationship between old cars being either restored or reclaimed. Eventually, what comes of the earth, goes back

“Freedom Betta” is a commanding mixed-media painting, rendered in Monica’s signature Hybrid Fluid Realism style. With a bold palette of red, white, and blue, this piece evokes a patriotic theme, celebrating the ideals of freedom, equality, and unity.

In these times it is good to remember to goodness of America’s strengths. The Statue of Liberty is a powerful representation of democracy. Her torch lights the way to freedom showing us the path to Liberty. We all have equal freedoms, there is goodness in these principles. Its application was not perfect then or is it now, but we strive to ensure all are equal. I know a lot of good people, and goodness will prevail.
Originally, I was going to pour the statue on this painting, but after some trails, it ended up being too small to shape. Since I had the canvas primed, and sketched – I decided to do the whole thing in oils. I never did the same painting in two style, but I like how each one turned out.
