Intimate Pours is a wine art series set that explores the ritual of connection through a perspective we rarely take the time to notice. Instead of viewing the glass from across the table, this collection invites you to look from above—where movement, light, and texture come alive in unexpected ways.

Each piece captures a moment suspended in time. However, together they reveal something deeper: the rhythm of gathering, pouring, and sharing.

Story Behind the Painting

During the winter months, the studio was focused on commissioned work—each piece created with intention, precision, and a specific collector in mind. However, as spring approached, there was a desire to explore something more open, more instinctive.

That shift led to a simple question:

What do these moments look like from above?

From that idea, this series began to take shape. Each canvas was created through movement rather than strict planning. As a result, the compositions formed naturally—capturing the unpredictable beauty of liquid, reflection, and time.

While wine remains at the heart of the series, subtle references to cocktails—like a martini and an old fashioned—expand the narrative. Ultimately, this collection becomes less about what’s in the glass and more about the shared experience around it.

Technique & Style — Hybrid Fluid Realism

This series is created using Monica’s Hybrid Fluid Realism technique, which combines fluid acrylic pours with traditional oil painting.

For example, the fluid elements introduce spontaneity and energy, while the controlled brushwork provides clarity and refinement. As a result, each piece balances motion with stillness—mirroring the experience it represents.
