Port Pour
This is a strong contrast Wine painting that uses an acrylic pour technique for the red wine, and traditional oils for the glass, bottle, and entire background. Port wine is a cousin of sherry, which is the wine from where I’m from in Spain. Port is a sweet, fortified wine made in the Douro Valley of Portugal and aged in the coastal town of Vila Nova de Gaia; variations include Vintage, Tawny, Late Bottled Vintage, Ruby, White, and others. One of the famous Port wine bodegas, Sandeman, owns and makes Sherry wine in Jerez, my town. The winery was literally two blocks from where I grew up.
